Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have come to the Chrysler vehicle line-up. The Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system will include the two programs. The systems will be available in select models during 2016. The models that will be using these systems have yet to be announced.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow drivers to use their smartphones for navigation, music, phone calls safely while driving the vehicle. While using CarPlay or Android Auto, the Uconnect infotainment screen will mimic the phone screen.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are seen as safety features. Smartphones can be very helpful to drivers, but the distraction of looking down at a phone screen can be very dangerous. These two programs help to reduce this distraction and make smartphone use while driving safer.
This news was announced in Las Vegas as part of the 2016 CES electronics show. This partnership is part of Chrysler’s commitment to continuing to develop the Uconnect system. The new generation of Uconnect will start faster and have increased processing capabilities. The new touchscreens will also be brighter and more responsive.

Apple CarPlay allows drivers to make phone calls, send and receive messages and get traffic based directions.
Android Auto provides access to Google Maps with voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and on-demand Google Play music as well as the ability to place phone calls or send and receive messages.
